AWE Quarterly Themes Overview
Every three months or so, we will spotlight an aspect of our Affirmative Work Environment (AWE) here at SCCCC. Each AWE theme is intended to create discussion at your component and among your team members: how is the featured topic realized at your work site? what steps could be taken to improve this feature of an Affirmative Work Environment?
From now until July 1, we will be focusing on our compensation package, including renewal of our health benefits. For this reason, HEALTH AND WELLNESS will be our AWE theme for this period. During this time, you’ll have opportunities to improve your health and wellness and learn more about your health plan benefits. You’ll be invited to fun and informative workshops, read useful fact sheets, access web page resources, and finally attend our health fair in June!
During July, August, and September, we’ll continue to shine the spotlight on HEALTH AND WELLNESS with the launch of Active For Life. AFL is a flexible, 10-week program to help you be more active on a regular basis. You don't have to be an athlete ot participate - everyday activities count, such as walking at lunchtime or taking the stairs instead of an elevator. You set your own goals and reap big health benefits. Talk to your AFL Team Captain today!
In the next quarter, October through December, we’ll concentrate on QUALITY SUPERVISION, an important element of AWE. During this period, supervisors will be invited to attend workshops to hone their supervisory skills and ensure a positive work environment for employees they supervise. Non-supervisors will have an opportunity to sharpen their inter-personal skills and receive tips on how to enrich the supervisory experience.
