The Santa Cruz Community Counseling Center (SCCCC) has been serving Santa Cruz County since 1973, providing a broad spectrum of social services that heal, connect and nurture the mental, educational and social well-being of 6,000 children, individuals and families annually. We do this through our four service components: Child and Family Development Programs, Youth Services, Community Recovery Services, and Community Support Services.

Youth Services (YS) helps children, teens and families find constructive solutions to challenges that arise in school, at home, and with peers. Serving 2,000 youth and families each year, YS provides substance abuse treatment, emergency foster care, counseling and support.

Youth Services counseling is personalized to meet the individual needs of youth and to enhance the strengths and assets of each family. We provide individual, group and family counseling for youth and families facing the challenges that arise in the process of growing up.

Job Summary: 

Work as a residential youth counselor at an adolescent substance abuse treatment facility in Freedom. The Night Counselor stays awake overnight to provide supervision and support to the residents.  The youth will be sleeping throughout most of the shift.   This is a part-time position about 20 hours per week. Weekend shifts may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Supervise clients ages 14 – 17.
  • Transport clients if required
  • Assist and guide clients with chores
  • Cook meals as needed according to shift.
  • Attend trainings regularly
  • Provide crisis management
Qualifications: 
  • 60 college units or at least two years residential experience required. BA or BS in behavioral science preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. CA Drivers License and clean DMV required. Must pass fingerprint clearance.
  • Wages and benefits: $13.08/hour (+ bilingual pay if qualify).
  • This is a part-time position about 20 hours per week. Weekend shifts may be required.
